How to Identify your Mac’s as Apple “Machine Model ID”

Apple defines every Mac by a “Machine Model ID”. This is different from the official model number such as found for example on the back of a MacBook Pro (MA470LL/A).

Simply follow the process described below:

You’ll end up with an identifier such as 5,1

You can then go to http://www.everymac.com/ & search for this specific model ID.

You can find full factory specs as well as type of memory & how much total memory it can accept.

Of course, you can simply stop by at Dr Chip store & we’ll gracefully give you the answers.

We do carry upgrades for all Macs & we can even install them while you wait. Our pricing is always very reasonable. And we offer full warranty on parts & labor.
